Are you passionate about sustainable investing, AI, and data-driven decision-making? Do you want to gain hands-on experience within a leading global asset manager? Aegon Asset Management is looking for a motivated and curious intern to join our Responsible Investment (RI) team in Schiphol.

As an intern within the Responsible Investment team, you will be given meaningful responsibilities from day one and will have the opportunity to contribute directly to RI research, ESG data management, and AI-driven innovation initiatives. Working alongside experienced Responsible Investment professionals, you will gain practical exposure to sustainable investing, ESG analytics, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies that are shaping the future of asset management.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to build expertise at the intersection of finance, sustainability, data, and artificial intelligence.

Responsibilities

During your internship, you may be involved in:

• Contributing to responsible investment research projects and thematic sustainability analyses.
• Supporting ad hoc projects related to sustainable investing, climate, biodiversity, stewardship, and ESG integration.
• Supporting the development and maintenance of ESG dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
• Supporting the Responsible Investment team with the adoption and implementation of AI solutions and productivity tools.
• Assisting with ESG data collection, validation, structuring, and quality control.
• Assisting with the monitoring of ESG-related developments, regulations, and market trends.

Team

The Responsible Investment team, consisting of 7 professionals, plays a central role in integrating sustainability considerations into investment decision-making across Aegon Asset Management. The team works closely with portfolio managers, risk professionals, investment operations, and other stakeholders to support ESG integration, stewardship activities, sustainability reporting, and regulatory compliance.

For this internship, you will be based in our Schiphol office and will work closely with experienced Responsible Investment professionals. Hybrid working is possible.

You Will Receive Support From:

• Two dedicated buddies from the Responsible Investment team who will actively coach and mentor you throughout the internship.
• The Head of Responsible Investment, who will act as your supervisor and provide guidance and development support where needed.

Required Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who:

• Are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program.
• Are available for at least 24 hours per week during the internship period.
• Have an academic background in Econometrics, Finance, Economics, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Nature-Based Studies, or a related field.
• Have a strong interest in sustainable investing and the asset management industry.
• Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Are comfortable working with data and quantitative information.
• Have experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Have experience with or interest in tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Python, or similar technologies.
• Can work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
• Communicate clearly and professionally in English.
• Are proactive, detail-oriented, curious, and eager to learn.

Terms

• Internship stipend of €650 per month based on a 40-hour workweek
• A laptop provided for the duration of the internship
• A Dutch BSN number and Dutch bank account are required
• NonEU/EEA students must have a valid residence permit stating “arbeid vrij toegestaan”
